Original Item: Only One Available. Tank toys surged in popularity during WWII as a result of their visibility as a military machine. Though tanks were used in WWI, use was not universal and tank technology was not well-developed until WWII. Toys like this plaster tank “piggy bank” reflected a growing interest in tanks by children.
This Tank Bank is offered in wonderful condition with much of the original paint and details still present. While it does appear that the barrel is missing from the turret, after coming across identical banks such as this one, they also do not have an extended barrel leading us to believe they were manufactured this way.
The overall condition is quite nice with minor chipping present. The bottom paper label, which acts as the cover for the coin retrieval hole, is still present and in mostly legible condition. The label states that this bank can hold up to $18.75 in “quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies”.
A great piece of homefront history that comes more than ready for further research and display.
